Our journey in ministry was launched in 1979. The road wasn’t easy but as the song writer says it was worth it. In spite of the many trials and afflictions, we experienced the grace not only to endure but also to enjoy the many blessings that followed the past 38 years of ministry, the Lord has never left us nor forsaken us. We have witnessed the mighty hand of God several times over, granting strength to fight a good fight of faith, meeting the eventualities of life with responsibilities, never allowing the pressures of life to steal our focus each time confirming the promise of God. “All things work for good to them that love God.”
Nothing but good has emerged with determination to execute the purposes of God for which we were designed, to fulfill the divine obligations, impacting and imparting not only spiritual strength but also numerical growth. The Lord is faithful and we cannot but continually approach His grace with a grateful heart of gratitude, celebrating the attribute of the Person and the nature of our God, as we survey the essential, moral Excellencies and the virtues of God, revealed in His word. We eulogize in word and in love praising the attributes and itemizing the benefits of God. Psalm 103 – 2 “Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me, and forget not all of His benefits towards us”.
The disciples were conditioned by the pressures of life for the purposes of being strengthened and to be brought into maturity of knowledge. Later they were commissioned with authority to serve. The principles in the government of God are to be conditioned before being commissioned to serve God. We demonstrate our love in fulfilling the great commission; I believe this is the greatest honor ever conferred upon man. There is a deep sense of obligation as we become partakers of His diving nature. We respond with urgency – Jn 9-4 “I must work the works of Him who sent me”. If you have no sense of obligation to serve God you are devoid of the divine nature of God. The Lord reveals our responsibilities in Luke 2-49: I must be about my Father’s business”. We are also accountable for our words and our works. The divine objectives in services is not only receiving Christ but also revealing Christ. The supreme task of our Lord Jesus was that of revealing His Father. Jn 14-9 “He who has seen me has seen the Father”.
Let us together meet the events of life as unknown, unfolds itself. We meet the challenges with the promises of God. Heb13-6 “The Lord is my helper I will not fear”. Often we are fearful of the unknown. The Lord promised to be with us wherever we go. “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. We can face our tomorrow with courage because of Jesus and His promised presence.
The apostle Paul confronts the future with the promise of God in Phil: 3-13, 14 – “Reaching forth unto those things which are before”, the unknown. He was not afraid of the future. He did not suffer insecurity. All that happens is already known, by the permissive will of God. In verse 14 of the same chapter He says “I press towards the mark for the high call in Christ” which is the “known” with responsibilities of life. This high calling is termed as “A holy calling”, In other words” quality of life”, that which demands separation and consecration in every day experience. Somebody once said we are the custodians of the past, heirs of the present, architects of the future. I am challenging you my reading friend to press on for the mark of the high calling of God, as we venture into the ministry for a dynamic future in Christ.
